Overview
Kursen ger en grundläggande genomgång av engelskans grammatiska och fonologiska strukturer med speciellt fokus på kontrastiva aspekter. Dessa teoretiska kunskaper kopplas till studentens egna språkproduktion, både skriftlig och muntlig. Studenten lär sig känna igen vanliga fel i elevers språkproduktion på engelska och utvecklar den egna språkfärdigheten. Kursinnehållet syftar i hög grad till att utveckla studenternas egna färdigheter i engelska och medvetenhet om språkets funktioner. I samtliga moment övas muntlig och skriftlig språkfärdighet genom kontinuerliga seminarieuppgifter. Vidare behandlas mer systematiskt viktiga huvuddrag i engelskans ljudsystem och meningsstruktur, särskilt med tyngdpunkt på skillnader gentemot svenskan. Läsning och diskussion av några samtida engelskspråkiga romaner och noveller ger studenterna inblickar i delar av den engelskspråkiga kulturen.
