Overview
Miljöhistoria studerar idéer och samhällsstrukturer som bär upp relationer mellan natur och kultur samt mellan människa och djur utifrån ett historiskt perspektiv. Ekokritiken är ett forskningsfält inom litteratur- och kulturstudier som analyserar hur den biologiska naturen representeras i olika estetiska former, t.ex. litteratur och konst. Med dessa utgångspunkter belyser vi hur förhållandet mellan människa och miljö förändrats historiskt och hur tankefigurer och kulturella representationer påverkar vår syn på naturen. Vi läser historiska texter och modern forskning, vi diskuterar skönlitteratur, ser på film och besöker Naturhistoriska museet. Syftet med kursen är att ge dels en orientering i miljöfrågornas historiska dimensioner och dels analysverktyg för ett kritiskt förhållningssätt till vår tids teorier och debatter om miljö, klimat och hållbarhet.
