<p>Under kursen diskuteras epidemiologins mål och tillämpningar. Dessutom beskrivs epidemiologiska begrepp och metoder, hälso- och riskindikatorer samt de olika typerna av studiedesign som används i epidemiologiska studier. Epidemiologins tillämpningar för att studera aktuella utmaningar inom folkhälsoområdet diskuteras, samt nya möjligheter som uppstår genom tillkomsten av maskininlärning och big data, liksom deras risker för personlig integritet och datasäkerhet. Kursen undersöker också konsekvenser av epidemiologiska studier vad gäller etik och hållbar utveckling samt hur man rapporterar tillförlitliga epidemiologiska resultat.</p>
