Overview
In this course, you will immerse yourself in several ethnological research fields with a particular focus on identity creation, belonging and diversity. The course is based on four themes: (1) The importance of the digital for people's everyday lives, from parking the car and contacting health care to finding a partner. (2) People's relationship to nature, other species, weather and climate. (3) Cultural meanings of place, migration and mobility, such as rurality-urbanism, local-global and aspects of power and ethnicity. (4) Cultural perspectives on the body in relation to e.g. functionality, identity, sexuality and health. The course covers current research as well as various theories and perspectives connected to these fields. The course can be taken as a preparation for a bachelor's thesis in ethnology.
