Overview
The course deals with theories and discussions from the Swedish and international field of ethnomusicological research and is structured around a number of case studies, where theory and methodology are discussed in relation to ethnographic material. Within the framework of the course, topics such as power and interpretation, purity and hybridity, ethics, postcolonialism and the experience industry are discussed. A selection of these themes are treated and problematised in relation to music from different parts of the world and the ethnomusicological methodological tradition.

A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Proficiency in English equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle (Bachelor's level) studies.
