Den existentiella dimensionen av hälsa och dess relevans för folkhälsovård i en svensk kontext presenteras utifrån grundläggande teori och praktik. Kursen behandlar hälsa som en helhet bestående av fysisk, psykisk, social, livsmiljörelaterad och existentiell hälsa. Grundläggande teorier och definitioner av hälsobegreppet med fokus på den existentiella dimensionen presenteras och diskuteras liksom hur existentiellt hälsoarbete kan utformas i praktiken för att stärka människors självskattade hälsa. Kursen ger möjlighet för studenten att reflektera över sin egen roll i relation till arbete med existentiella frågor och ges redskap för att utveckla lokalt förankrat folkhälsoarbete.
