Overview
<p>Nya tekniker öppnar fantastiska möjligheter att generera stora mängder biologisk data. Detta medför ett växande behov av kunskap och kompetens att på ett effektivt sätt analysera och tolka datamängder från storskaliga experiment. I denna kurs inriktar vi oss på analyser av expressionsdata med särskilt fokus på genexpressionsdata. Vi använder programmeringsverktyget R för att utföra avancerade bioinformatiska analyser för att exempelvis hitta biomarkörer för allvarliga sjukdomar eller öka kunskapen kring utvecklingsbiologin. Praktiska moment ingår där studenten utnyttjar publika dataset och genomför kvalitetskontroller och identifiera grupper av intressanta gener utifrån olika frågeställningar. Kursen tar upp viktiga statistiska aspekter vid analys av storskalig data och nya tekniker såsom Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS) beskrivs och jämförs med väletablerade tekniker som microarrayer.</p>
