Overview
<p>This course is intended for those who wish to continue developing as musicians by playing in a folk music ensemble. It is a continuation of the course 'Folk and World Music Ensemble' (MUHG77).</p><p>In this course, you will develop the skills to confidently learn and perform music by ear in an ensemble setting within the fields of folk and world music. You will also explore the stylistic characteristics of different folk and world music traditions, learn to communicate your ideas for arrangements and artistic interpretation, and collaborate with fellow musicians to create personal and engaging interpretations of musical material.</p><p>Teaching is primarily ear-based, so you should be reasonably independent on your instrument. No previous experience of folk or world music is required.</p><p>The course combines online preparation with three half-day weekend sessions each semester. As the course is usually attended by some of the Academy's exchange students, the language of instruction is English.</p>
