Kursen behandlar kemisk nomenklatur, det periodiska systemet, stökiometri, atomers elektronstruktur, kemisk bindning i molekyler och deras strukturisomeri, samt intermolekylära krafter i fast, vätske- och gasfas. En introduktion ges till kemisk termodynamik och kinetik. Kemiska jämvikter behandlas i gasfas och vattenlösningar. Relationen mellan jämviktskonstant (K), entalpi (H), entropi (S) och Gibbs energi (G) introduceras. Radioaktivitet och radionukliders användning presenteras. Kursen är uppdelad i tre moment - Teori motsvarande 9 hp - Laborationer motsvarande 5 hp - Praktisk professionell träning (PPT) – Arbetsliv och karriär, motsvarande 1 hp
