Overview
The course deals with biological variation from the smallest entity to whole populations. It includes many aspects: cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, population genetics, conservation biology and statistics. The fundamental processes and the structure of cells will be described, as will the diversity of micro-organisms and their role in the environment. Processes that affect evolution, survival, and preservation of populations will also be discussed. The course is a component of the bachelor programme in biology-earth science. It can also be taken as an individual course. The course is given in the period January-March.
