Overview
The course introduces raster-based spatial analysis and modeling with a focus on problem solving in GIS. Students learn basic raster concepts, data storage and analysis methods, including map algebra, terrain modeling, interpolation and multi-criteria data analysis (MCDA). Through hands-on exercises, students develop skills in processing raster data, integrating raster and vector data, and visualizing results effectively. The course includes projects where students, taking into account ethics and sustainability, identify and solve a spatial problem linked to sustainable development (SDG). Emphasis is placed on critical evaluation of raster methods, interpretation of results and clear communication using cartographic techniques.

60 ECTS credits completed in the Surveying Technology and Geographical IT Engineering programme or 60 ECTS credits completed in the Surveying and Mapping programme, including Geographical Information Systems I, 7.5 ECTS credits, and registered for Scientific Methods in Geomatics, 7.5 ECTS credits, or equivalent
