Overview
This is a web-based course introducing Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Part I consists of practical exercises where you work with the application of GIS tools and technology. Part II consists of an individual project work where you apply your GIS skills. After the course you will have understanding of how GIS as tool can be used to solve spatial problems of different complexity and how to evaluate and compare different sources for geographical data and data capturing techniques.

Admission to the course requires at least passing grade of at least 2 credits in the course NGN180Geographical Information Systems (GIS) - Introduction, 7.5 credits, or passed the GIS section of GE0400 Geography: Basic Course, 30 credits orGVS080Geographical Information Systems: GIS, 7.5 creditsor equivalent. Applicants with equivalent qualifications may, after assessment and approval, be admitted to the course.
