<p>In the course, different developments in the German-speaking periods of the Enlightenment, Idealism, Realism and Modernism are treated. There is special focus here on how these developments changed the view of the ego and its understanding of and relation to the surrounding world. Important points of reference are the relation between private and public life, the bourgeoisie and the nobility, Roman and Germanic law, self-realization and social norms and finally the humanistic and scientific concept of mankind.<br /> </p>
