Kursen ger grundläggande kunskaper om geografisk informationsbehandling och kartografi samt förmåga iatt arbeta med olika digitala metoder att fånga data och skapa kartor och göra analyser i geografiska informationssystem (GIS). Stor vikt fästs vid analys av information. Kursen ger kunskap om hur digitalhantering av geografisk information kan användas, både teoretiskt och genom tillämpade exempel. Inom kursen genomförs ett antal projektarbeten med olika tematiska innehåll.
