Kursen tar upp relaterade fält, såsom skriftspråket och tryckkonstens utveckling, för att sätta grafisk design i en kontext, både historiskt, geografiskt och kulturellt. Innehållet i kursen kommer att sträcka sig från hieroglyfer till digitala medier. Under kursen görs en genomgång av skriftspråkets och tryckkonstens utveckling och användning samt förändringar av estetik och uttryck genom historien. Utöver det teoretiska arbetar studenterna praktiskt med olika typer av stilar, uttryck och maner med hjälp av digitala verktyg.
