<p>För att förstå hur saker och ting ser ut och utvecklas idag måste vi förstå den historia som ligger bakom, såsom idéer och tankeströmmar som format individer, rörelser och ideologier. I denna grundkurs ligger huvudfokus på västerlandets utveckling sedan fornkyrkans tid tills idag. Vi möter människor, lär oss om viktiga historiska brytpunkter, om hur kristendomen kom att prägla det västerländska tänkandet och utbildningsväsendet, ja, i det närmaste hela kultursfären, och därför kom att bilda grundbultarna i västerlandets värdegrund. Vidare får vi insikt i några centrala källkritiska principer.</p>
