Overview
<p>How did the academic study of religion emerge - and how have understandings of religion changed over time? In this course, you will trace the development of the field from its early beginnings to contemporary research perspectives.</p><p>This is a 7.5-credit course in History of Religions. You will be introduced to how the academic study of religion has emerged and evolved through different theories, methods, and perspectives.</p><p>The course provides an overview of how scholars have studied religion in different historical periods and how understandings of religion have changed over time. You will also work with examples from various religious traditions and discuss key questions within the academic study of religion.</p><p>The course is offered as a standalone course and may be included in a degree in History of Religions or in Religious Studies and Theology. The instruction is conducted in both Swedish and English.</p>

Entry requirements
General entry requirements and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Religious Studies: Level 1 (REVA10/ÄRED11), of which at least 10 credits must consist of Modules 2 Hindu and Buddhist traditions and Module 4 Jewish and Islamic traditions. Alternatively, general eligibility and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Islamic Studies: Level 1 (ISLA11) or at least 15 credits within Jewish Studies: Level 1 (JUDA12/JUDA13), or the equivalent.
