<p>From yoga and meditation to feng shui and martial arts - how have Asian religious practices spread across the world? In this course, you will explore how traditions originating in Asia are shaped, transformed, and given new meanings in different cultural contexts.</p><p>This is a 7.5-credit course in History of Religions. You will study Asian religious practices and their development in a global context.</p><p>The course provides knowledge of how religious and spiritual practices originating in Asia - such as yoga, meditation, and various other embodied techniques - remain rooted in historical traditions while also being shaped by modern societies. You will also gain an understanding of how these practices spread and are adapted in different parts of the world.</p><p>The course is offered as a standalone course and may be included in a degree in History of Religions or in Religious Studies and Theology. Instruction is conducted in both Swedish and English.</p>

Entry requirements
General entry requirements and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Religious Studies: Level 1 (REVA10/ÄRED11), of which at least 10 credits must consist of Modules 2 Hindu and Buddhist traditions and Module 4 Jewish and Islamic traditions. Alternatively, general eligibility and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Islamic Studies: Level 1 (ISLA11) or at least 15 credits within Jewish Studies: Level 1 (JUDA12/JUDA13), or the equivalent.
