<p>What role does religion play in politics and public debate - past and present? In this course, you will explore how religion shapes, and is shaped by, major social and political transformations.</p><p>This is a 7.5-credit course in History of Religions. You will study the relationship between religion and politics and how this relationship has taken shape in different historical periods and societies.</p><p>The course provides an overview of the political significance of religions, both historically and in the contemporary world. You will also explore how concepts such as religion and politics are understood and used in different contexts, and how they relate to issues such as globalization, migration, and social change.</p><p>The course is offered as a standalone course and may be included in a degree in History of Religions or in Religious Studies and Theology. The instruction is conducted in both Swedish and English.</p>

Entry requirements
General entry requirements and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Religious Studies: Level 1 (REVA10/ÄRED11), of which at least 10 credits must consist of Modules 2 Hindu and Buddhist traditions and Module 4 Jewish and Islamic traditions. Alternatively, general eligibility and successful completion of at least 15 credits within Islamic Studies: Level 1 (ISLA11) or at least 15 credits within Jewish Studies: Level 1 (JUDA12/JUDA13), or the equivalent.
