I denna kurs analyseras framför allt olika teman inom naturrätten samt kritik av dessa. I kursen behandlas kontextuella tolkningar av rättigheter i förhållande till ”rättvisa” och ”makt”. Vilka är förtjänsterna och svagheterna i de huvudsakliga filosofiska teorierna? Vilka olika värden avspeglas i de mänskliga rättigheterna när det gäller samhälls- och människosyn? I kursen analyseras också skillnader mellan liberala och marxistiska tolkningar av mänskliga rättigheter i form av universalism och konstruktivism.
