Human Rights and the Environment

<p>If you are interested in the connection between the environment and human rights, and how law can protect individuals in a time of climate change, this distance learning course is for you. The course introduces international law in relation to the environment. No prior legal knowledge is required. </p><p>The course is conducted in English and comprises five (5) ECTS credits. During the autumn term, the course is part-time (33% study pace) and runs over half a term of 10 weeks. </p><p>The course consists of five (5) modules that are conducted remotely with professionally pre-recorded video lectures and self-correcting tests. Each module concludes with a reflective assignment that is graded. No prior legal knowledge is required. </p><p>The course deals with how international law addresses global challenges in the form of climate change and environmental degradation that affect people's lives, well-being, dignity and security. You will gain insight into the historical development of environmental justice, conventions and international agreements. The course also covers key concepts such as biodiversity and global supply chains and analyses the legal frameworks for sustainability in practice.</p>
