Overview
The Icelandic language is both ancient and modern at the same time. Thanks to Iceland’s geographical isolation, it has been preserved and remains very similar today to the language spoken in the Nordic region a thousand years ago. It therefore also offers us a glimpse of what Swedish once looked like. This introductory course in Icelandic teaches you to read and write Icelandic. You will practise pronunciation and listening, and you will gain basic knowledge of Icelandic grammar and vocabulary. You will also learn about the Icelandic language in relation to the other Nordic languages, especially Swedish.
