Overview
On this course you will learn about concepts, theories and perspectives that help you understand and analyze how spatial processes can create both opportunities and obstacles for different places and people. The course addresses different aspects of spatial inclusion and exclusion, from the small-scale places in the city, which can be welcoming or repulsive, to more large-scale processes such as segregation and gentrification. You also get to explore the regional dimension, and how discourses and policies around densely and sparsely built-up areas affect their development and attractiveness. During the course, you apply your knowledge by analyzing examples from different spatial contexts. You also get to reflect on the material and discursive factors behind spatial inclusion and exclusion, as well as related planning challenges. <br> <br>
