Overview
The exchange term at the Bachelor Programme in Industrial Design term 5, aims to give the student the opportunity to - both independently and in group - communicate her/his knowledge and skills, as well as reflecting on the student's own level of competence in relation to a future professional role as industrial designer. The course is divided into various parts such as project planning, portfolio, sketch, theory, caid, project work and storytelling. The work is conducted individually or in groups, depending on the content of the different parts of the course. The student will through their studies, which are linked to contemporary design problems, further develop and refine her/his design process. Opportunities for in-depth reflection are offered in the projects, both in the student's own process, but also connected to a collaboration partner, and to the specific needs and wishes of a specific target group. The project is conducted in cooperation with an external company, organization or authority. 5ID171 Design Process 3, 7.5 credits In the course, the student use learned skills, experience and knowledge, to partly independently, initiate and communicate her/his skills and competence, while reflecting over the student's own level of competence in relation to a future profession and working life as an industrial designer. In this course, the student will identify contemporary design problems, based on the needs and visions of an identified partner or target group. The student shall write a project description, which can later be used in the course final exam project. In the sketching part of the course, the students will deepen their sketching skills and knowledge of working with sketching as a creative process, presenting a final sketch proposal. The course aim is also that the student will develop and present their knowledge and competence through individual portfolios in a simulated hiring interview. 5ID172 Design Presentation 3, 10.5 credits The aim of this course is to give students basic knowledge of the storytelling method and to deepen their knowledge of digital visualization through CAID. The students will amongst other things create individual storyboards and work with elementary presentations of concepts and projects. The digital visualization part of the course will focus on deepening the student knowledge of CAID, the equipment used, and the process of making a three dimensional product. In this course the student shall learn a work process based on self-formulated goals. 5ID173 Design and theoretical subjects 3, 4.5 credits During this course, the student will be given the opportunity to develop her/his ability and experience to discuss and present theoretical issues. Students will acquire their own experience of how to apply results of academic research in practical industrial design work, and will learn how to have a reflective approach, focusing on industrial design and related areas. 5ID174 Design Project - Hot Team 3, 7.5 credits In this course, the student will conduct design projects in interdisciplinary teams. Students from different levels, institutions and education programs, will participate, and the aim is for the student to be trained to work in interdisciplinary teams with a focus on cooperation. The student shall through practice carry out a project in cooperation with an external company, organization or authority. The students should apply - and reflect over - group mechanisms and individual factors that affect their own part in the project as well as the team work. They should also reflect upon the differences between project work and interdisciplinary team work. During this course, the students in each team build a studio for their work.
