Informatics: IT Architecture and Software Systems

<p>The course has a strong focus on the use of modern technology to teach basic core principles related to IT architecture, software architecture, and software development, such as component-based development, web technologies and system integration technologies such as web services. The course covers both backend development using database servers, application servers and web servers, as well as frontend development including the design of client applications with console, desktop and web interfaces and the interaction between the frontend and backend architecture.</p><p>Cloud architecture plays an important role in the course, and you will learn how to work in and build solutions for the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Systems integration also plays a central role, where you will learn to integrate software applications you build with other existing and external systems.</p> <p>You will also learn how to use AI-based tools to support system development processes to build applications and web services using a variety of programming languages. Programming languages and technologies within the .NET Framework (e.g. C#, Entity Framework Core och ASP.NET Core) and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) are widely used.</p> <p>The course contains several different elements to teach web architecture, web technology, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web service architecture, XML, JSON, and REST etc. and also includes several pattern solutions.</p> <p>The course also includes a thorough review of J2EE architecture. Building multitier architecture is included, covering servlets, JSP, and EJB.</p> <p>The course teaches the use of Application Server to handle logging, transaction management, pooling, and caching issues. Scalability, transaction management, object-relational mapping (ORM) are other important elements.</p> <p>Software Process Improvement (SPI) to achieve good software quality, as well as paradigms and standards for SPI (CMMI, ISO etc.) will be covered during the course.
