Instrument and Ensemble 5

The course comprises three modules. The course content prepares students for placement within the field. Module 1 This module includes performance on the chosen second instrument or instrument group within a selected genre, through instrumental lessons. The focus is primarily on developing instrumental or vocal skills, musical expression, and musical communication. Module 2 This module includes general music education, including: - Seminars with presentations and discussions based on texts from current general and music education literature, research, and public debate - Introduction to and preparation of a personal teaching philosophy The module also covers instrumental methodology, including: - In-depth methodological aspects based on the chosen structure for the second instrument - Supervised teaching practice on the second instrument within compulsory or voluntary school settings - Reflections upon completed supervised teaching practice The ensemble methodology component primarily includes: - Seminars on ensemble leadership from various perspectives - Goals, content, and planning strategies - Assessment of ensemble performance - Specific methods and supervised teaching practice in large ensembles, based on the students' instrument and genre combinations Module 3 This module includes components such as producing sound and music from scratch for moving images, and music history with a focus on the role and function of popular and art music in society during the 20th and 21st centuries.
