Overview
Kursen behandlar tre huvudområden: handelsteori, handelspolitik och valutamarknad. Handelsteorin tar bl.a. upp orsakerna till varför handel mellan länder uppstår och välfärdsvinsterna som uppnås genom att länder handlar med varandra. Inom området handelspolitik behandlas olika typer av handelshinder som tullar, kvoter och subventioner men också den ökande ekonomiska integrationen i världen som sker genom bildandet av frihandelsområden och tullunioner. Här behandlas också viktiga internationella handelspolitiska institutioner som WTO och IMF. Vidare behandlas effekterna av globaliseringen av världsekonomin i form av ökad rörlighet av kapital och arbetskraft. Inom valutaavsnittet jämförs olika växelkursregimer med varandra så som rörlig växelkurs, fast växelkurs och medlemskap i en valutaunion.
