<p>International collaboration is crucial as we confront global environmental and sustainability challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. In this course, you will deepen your knowledge of how these challenges are addressed within the UN system and the EU, with a focus on finding solutions to concrete environmental problems.</p><h3><br>Explore global environmental work</h3><p>Throughout the course, you will explore various aspects of globalization and international relations across different themes, including:<br>• Sustainable development<br>• Methods and tools in international environmental management<br>• The connection between EU and Swedish environmental policies<br>The course will equip you with knowledge of the fundamental principles shaping global environmental work. You will be introduced to EU environmental law, with a particular focus on directives. Additionally, you will delve into international agreements, negotiations, and conventions, analyze Swedish international aid efforts, and examine how businesses are affected by international environmental policies.</p><h3><br>For those interested in environmental issues</h3><p>This course is intended for environmental science students and other students looking to deepen their knowledge of managing climate, environmental, and sustainability challenges within the UN system and the EU. The course provides a strong foundation for those wishing to work on the international aspects of these global challenges.<br> </p><h3>Diverse study methods</h3><p>In addition to lectures and literature seminars, you will be part of a tutorial group that conducts an assignment. You will also participate in a role-playing exercise on a current issue in the UN climate negotiations and develop a policy scenario for a world capable of meeting the two-degree temperature goal of the Paris Agreement. Self-study will also be a central component of the course, and if needed, the course can be conducted in English.<br> </p>

Environmental Complexity in Policy and Practice, basic course, 7.5 credits or equivalent. Environmental Assessment, Management, and Planning, basic course, 15 credits or equivalent.
