Overview
The International Tourism Management Programme prepares you to work in one of the world’s largest and most dynamic industries. With more than 45 years of experience in tourism education, the programme is one of the most established in Sweden – combining global perspectives with local sustainability projects, practical assignments and close collaboration with the tourism industry. Here, international tourism theory meets real cases from Kalmar’s active visitor economy. You will learn how tourism shapes societies, cultures and businesses – and how you can contribute to a more sustainable, innovative and responsible global tourism future. During your studies, you will take courses in areas such as hospitality management, event management, destination management and entrepreneurship, alongside business courses such as e-commerce and marketing. You will develop strong analytical skills and gain an understanding of how tourism can support sustainable development. Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries, and the demand for skilled, forward-thinking professionals who can combine business insight with a sustainability mindset is growing rapidly. All teaching is conducted in English, giving you international experience and a qualification that opens doors to career opportunities around the globe. You will study on campus in Kalmar – a vibrant coastal student city with an active student life and close links with the tourism industry. Your learning will include lectures, projects, study trips, guest lectures and an internship. During your final semester, you can choose the path that suits you best: • study abroad at one of our partner universities • do an internship in the tourism sector, in Sweden or internationally • specialise in marketing – a pathway that offers the possibility of a double degree After graduating, you will have a wide range of career opportunities. You can work in hotels, destination management, events, travel companies or start your own business. Our former students work as, for example: • Destination developer • Event project manager • Hotel manager • Travel agency consultant • CEO in the travel industry
