Kursen behandlar grundläggande kunskaper inom audiovisuell medieproduktion, där teoretiska och praktiska aspekter integreras. Den är indelad i tre moduler: Medieproduktionsteori, Inspelningsteknik och Efterbearbetning. I den första modulen behandlas grundläggande berättarkomponenter för audiovisuell medieproduktion. Analysmetoder presenteras och tillämpas. Grunderna inom vetenskapligt skrivande introduceras. Den andra modulen behandlar grundläggande medieproduktionsteknik för inspelning av ljud och rörlig bild. I den tredje modulen behandlas grundläggande medieproduktionsteknik för efterbearbetning av inspelat ljud- och bildmaterial. I både modul två och tre integreras teoretiska och praktiska aspekter av medieproduktionsteknik där audiovisuella uppgifter genomförs såväl enskilt som i grupp.
