Overview
Classification of partial differential equations (PDE), similarity solutions, fundamental solutions, travelling wavelike solutions, a priori energy and boundary estimates, maximum principles, comparison principles, uniqueness theorems, Green's functions for elliptic and parabolic equations, tailor-made techniques for non-linear PDE, basic functional analysis for the finite element method for linear elliptic PDE. Students are required to carry out a minor project individually.

Mathematics 60 ECTS cr with at least 45 ECTS cr completed, including MAGA04 Linear Algebra 7.5 ECTS cr and MAGA62 Multivariable Analysis 7.5 ECTS cr., or equivalent.
