Overview
How do geophysicists derive models of the Earth's interior from a finite number of error-prone observations on the Earth's surface? And how do they assess the quality of such models? In this course, you will get a broad overview of the underlying theory and practical algorithms for solving such inverse problems. Having followed this course you are well prepared to understand the numerous research papers describing applications in various geophysical disciplines, and self be able to design and solve geophysical inverse problems.

Entry requirements
180 credits including (1) 80 credits in physics and mathematics or (2) 70 credits in earth science and 45 credits in physics and mathematics. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
