Overview
Den linjära algebran inleds med teorin om de linjära ekvationssystemen och deras lösningar, eftersom förståelsen av ämnet till stor del bygger på denna kunskap. Därefter introduceras vektorbegreppet inklusive egenskaper och räkneregler såsom addition, subtraktion, multiplikation med skalär, skalärprodukt samt vektorprodukt. Med vektorers hjälp kan nu geometriska frågeställningar som till exempel beräkning av vinklar, avstånd, projektioner och speglingar för linjära objekt som punkter, linjer och plan utföras. Kursen fortsätter med att behandla matriser och determinanter inklusive begrepp och räkneregler för dessa. Kopplingen mellan linjära ekvationssystem, vektorer och matriser tydliggörs därigenom på ett påtagligt sätt. Kursen avslutas med att illustrera linjära avbildningar med hjälp av matriser och, som en följd av detta, definiera matrisers egenvärden och egenvektorer.
