Master's Program in International Administration and Global Governance

**What is IAGG?** The Master’s Program in International Administration and Global Governance, IAGG, is a two-year, full-time program worth 120 ECTS credits. It is designed for students who want to work with governance, policy, and administration in an international context. The program prepares students for qualified professional careers in international affairs, as well as for doctoral studies. It develops advanced analytical skills for understanding how institutions, organizations, and political actors shape policy processes at national, international, and global levels. IAGG is taught in English and offered on campus in Gothenburg. The program brings together students from diverse academic and national backgrounds, creating an internationally oriented learning environment where different perspectives are compared and critically examined. Throughout the program, students develop advanced skills in policy analysis, institutional evaluation, research design, and structured problem-solving. These competencies are directly relevant for work in international organizations, public agencies, NGOs, and other institutions engaged with global and international issues. Graduates are awarded a Master of Science with a major in International Administration and Global Governance. **What do we study?** The program provides a solid foundation in international administration and global governance. Students examine global and international politics, international organizations, policy processes, policy evaluation, research design, and methods. A central focus of the program is how political decisions are formulated, implemented, and evaluated across different institutional contexts. Students examine the roles of international organizations, states, and non-state actors, and analyze how they interact in shaping global governance. Methodological training is an important part of IAGG. Students take a course in research design and policy evaluation, as well as qualitative or quantitative methods courses, strengthening their ability to conduct systematic analysis and produce well-founded conclusions for both policy work and research. As part of the program, students also take an in-depth course on complex international issues such as armed conflict, international conflict resolution, development aid, poverty reduction, and political development. The course strengthens students’ ability to analyze how these processes are governed, how international and national actors shape policy responses, and why outcomes vary across political and institutional contexts. Students may also choose elective courses and have opportunities for internships and exchange studies, allowing them to further strengthen their academic and professional profile. The fourth semester is devoted entirely to the degree project, in which students carry out an independent, supervised study.
