Overview
Are you interested in understanding how microorganisms function and how the immune system detects and combats pathogenic microorganisms? This international Master's Programme with a specialisation in immunology and microbiology provides in-depth knowledge of the interactions between the immune system and bacteria, viruses, and parasites. You will study how microbes grow and interact with one another as well as the host, and why they sometimes help the host and sometimes don’t. You will learn how the immune system responds to infections and what happens when tolerance to the body's own tissues fails, as in autoimmune diseases and allergies. The programme combines theoretical studies with practical components in microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology. The programme is flexible – you choose courses based on your interests and career goals. The second year is mainly devoted to a degree project, which can be carried out within the university's research groups or in collaboration with external partners. This programme is ideal if you aim to work in research, diagnostics, or within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Our graduates have pursued careers in academia, healthcare, and the private sector. The language of instruction is English.
