Overview
Do you want to understand, model, and influence chemical processes at the molecular level and contribute to a sustainable future? This specialisation within the Master’s Programme in Chemistry provides you with advanced knowledge in physical chemistry and computational chemistry. You will combine theory and computation with advanced experimental methods to explore and develop molecules and materials. You will study areas such as molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, spectroscopy, electrochemistry and photochemistry. The programme also gives you tools to apply modern AI methods to chemical problems. As a student you will have a personal mentor, close contact with leading researchers and the opportunity to become part of an international research environment where you can build a strong network. Teaching includes lectures, laboratory work, seminars and projects. You will develop critical thinking, problem solving and scientific communication skills, all of which are highly valued in both academia and industry. A Master’s degree in chemistry from Uppsala University opens doors to qualified roles both in Sweden and internationally. You can work with research and development, sustainability, safety issues, patenting, or advanced analytical tasks. Our alumni can be found at the Swedish Defence Research Agency, Stora Enso, and AFRY, as well as pursuing PhD studies at Uppsala University, University of Geneva, and University of Cambridge. The language of instruction is English.
