Sustainability issues are becoming increasingly important for cultural heritage management and vice versa. The Master's Programme in Cultural Heritage and Sustainability has a unique interdisciplinary profile where different perspectives on heritage and sustainability are integrated. The programme addresses both tangible and intangible cultural heritage at local, national, and global levels. You will be provided with in-depth knowledge about the role of cultural heritage in sustainable development, as well as insights into theories and methods within conservation as an academic discipline. There are excellent opportunities for individual specialisation within the programme, through courses with thematic perspectives on heritage and sustainability as well as internships. The Master’s thesis is a central component of the programme and offers the opportunity to address a self-formulated research question. This international and interdisciplinary programme will provide you with the skills necessary to work with strategic issues related to how cultural heritage can be preserved, used, and developed. The programme will also give you a solid foundation for pursuing an academic career in conservation. The programme is offered at Campus Gotland in the World Heritage Site of Visby, on the island of Gotland. The language of instruction is English.
