Master's Programme in International Administration and Global Governance

**What is IAGG?** The Master’s Programme in International Administration and Global Governance (IAGG) is a two-year, full-time programme (120 ECTS) for students who want to work with governance in an international context. It prepares graduates for qualified professional careers in international affairs and for doctoral studies. The programme develops strong analytical competence in understanding how institutions and actors shape policy processes at national and international levels. IAGG is taught in English and offered on campus in Gothenburg. Students from diverse academic and national backgrounds create a focused and internationally oriented academic environment where perspectives are compared and critically examined. Throughout the programme, students build advanced skills in policy analysis, institutional evaluation and structured problem-solving. These competencies are directly applicable in international organisations, public agencies and other institutions engaged in global and international issues. Graduates are awarded a Master of Science with a major in International Administration and Global Governance. <br> <br> **What do we study?** The programme begins with core courses that establish a solid foundation in international administration and global governance. Students examine the historical development of the international system and analyse how institutions, norms and international agreements shape policy processes and governance outcomes. This provides a clear understanding of how political decisions are formulated, implemented and evaluated across institutional contexts. Building on this foundation, students address governance challenges related to democracy and quality of government, sustainable development and international policy processes. Courses emphasise analytical precision and critical evaluation, focusing on how policy problems are defined, how decisions are taken within institutions and how outcomes vary across contexts. Methodological training is central to the programme. During the third semester, students take a research methods course that prepares them for the degree project. They choose between qualitative and quantitative methods courses, strengthening their ability to conduct systematic analysis and produce well-founded conclusions. The fourth semester is devoted entirely to the degree project, where students carry out an independent, supervised study. Students may also choose elective courses and have opportunities for internships and exchange studies, further strengthening their academic and professional profile.
