<p>The MA in Language and Linguistics offers a unique opportunity for pursuing advanced studies in languages and linguistics at the MA level. It is intended for students who are interested in increasing their knowledge of language and broadening their theoretical understanding of linguistic questions.</p><p>Within the specialisation, the research environment is characterised by a strong focus on the structure of language, approached from a range of theoretical perspectives, including generative grammar, functional linguistics, and semantics. While Swedish constitutes the primary object of study, other Nordic and Germanic languages are also examined. In recent years, particular attention has been devoted to the interfaces between information structure and prosody, reflecting a growing body of expertise and scholarly interest in these areas.<br></p><p>Research on language use in educational and societal contexts is equally well-established and vibrant, drawing on diverse theoretical frameworks such as text linguistics, critical discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, ethnography of communication, and translation theory. Both research domains encompass investigations from contemporary as well as historical perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of language in its various dimensions.</p><p>Successful completion of this specialisation presupposes a solid theoretical foundation and advanced proficiency in Swedish.</p>
