Overview
The programme is highly research-oriented. Students do an internship in collaboration with a research group and receive hands-on research mentoring, within or outside of the Department, as part of their course work across the first three semesters. By collaborating with researchers in Psychology, students get practical hands-on experience of various research-related tasks as well as in-depth understanding of research challenges. In addition, this collaboration serves as the springboard for the master thesis project written in the fourth semester. The master thesis should meet the standards for publication in scientific psychology journals. Moreover, course readings primarily include current high-quality research articles from the most influential journals in the field. The courses are taught by teachers who are active researchers in their fields. The programme courses are designed to give students sustainable knowledge and skills that support life-long learning. Specifically, the programme aims at incorporating broadly-applicable skills, such as generating research hypotheses, critically reviewing and evaluating concepts and ideas, planning and organizing research projects, presenting research orally and in writing, collaborating in science, and peer reviewing. The pedagogical approach of the programme aligns with these learning outcomes by implementing evidence-based practices in higher education.
