Overview
Are you interested in society and in studying social phenomena? The Master's programme in sociology is designed to impart advanced knowledge and skills in sociology. The constituent courses enhance general sociological knowledge and skills, while also offering the opportunity to develop a sociological specialism. Throughout the programme, the application and development of classic and contemporary sociological theories and the deployment of specific methods is discussed. Thus, it facilitates a deeper understanding of sociology and a training in adapting disciplinary principles for real social contexts and challenges, both contemporary and historical. The programme meets today's great need for individuals with the skills to independently analyse societal processes and phenomena at different levels with a focus on the interaction between individuals and structural factors. Such knowledge and skills are important and in demand in research, administration, civil society and the commercial sector. The language of instruction is English.

Entry requirements
_Academic requirements_ A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 90 credits in sociology or sociological social psychology. _Language requirements_ Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
