Overview
Sustainable development is an important political objective in Sweden, the European Union, and other countries all over the world. The concept of sustainable development has an interdisciplinary basis and applies a holistic approach incorporating economic, social and ecological dimensions. Knowledge of the way interactions between environmental and social factors affect economic development is central. The program starts with a review of different approaches to sustainable development in natural and social sciences. You will be equipped with a number of analytical and quantitative tools appropriate for assessing and managing sustainable development. These are then applied to interdisciplinary case studies where you will work with students from other disciplines. You choose optional courses in the third term within the profile of your Bachelor’s degree. The master thesis is written during the fourth and final term.

2.1 Previous studies Admission to the Sustainable Development – Master’s programme requires a first-cycle qualification comprising 180 credits and specialised studies comprising 90 credits within one of the following subjects/disciplinary domains: - natural science - social science - technology Applicants with the corresponding qualifications obtained by means of a degree from another country, or with the corresponding knowledge obtained in some other way, may also be regarded as fulfilling the specific entry requirements. The applicant must further have a level of English equivalent to upper secondary school English B An applicant with a first-cycle qualification from SLU comprising 180 credits automatically fulfils this requirement. Special rules apply for applicants with qualifications from one of the Nordic countries and some English-speaking countries. Specific requirements apply for admission to the various individual courses included in the programme.
