Overview
During the master thesis work you will explore and analyze a topic within ecotoxicology in depth. The course is designed as an individual project under the direct supervision of a senior scientist in the area and as a member of his or her research team. You will plan the specific study in collaboration with your supervisor, implement the experiments, analyze the resulting data, and finally report the project in writing and in an oral defense. The project work can be fully or partly conducted externally, i.e. with industry, regulatory authorities or research institutes outside the University. However, the master project needs to be established at the University of Gothenburg, i.e. you need to have an examiner from the University. The program coordinator should be informed prior to the start of the master thesis work.

Entry requirements
The entrance requirements are a Bachelor of Science and at least a pass degree in the courses Fundamentals in Ecotoxicology (ES2615), Environmental Impact Assessment (ES2419), Chemical Risk Assessment (ES2413), Ecotoxicology/Physiology (BIO435) and Ecotoxicology/Ecology (BIO430), or similar courses. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS. Entry requirements valid from spring 2025: Degree of Bachelor of Science and completed courses in Fundamentals in Ecotoxicology (ES2615), Environmental Impact Assessment (ES2419), Chemical Risk Assessment (ES2413), Ecotoxicology/Physiology (BIO435) and Ecotoxicology/Ecology (BIO430). A minimum of 45 credits on these, or similar, courses have to be passed. Applicants must also prove their knowledge of English corresponding to English 6/English B from Swedish upper secondary school.
