Overview
I kursen behandlas teoretiska och metodologiska principer som ligger till grund för utbildningsvetenskapligt studium. Studenterna väljer inledningsvis ett forskningsfält och en problemställning som är relevant inom området. Vidare genomför studenterna, i samråd med handledare, ett självständigt arbete på vetenskaplig grund. Kursen innefattar även presentation av arbetet vid seminarier, försvar av det egna arbetet, opposition på annat arbete samt deltagande då övriga studenters arbeten läggs fram. Det självständiga arbetet författas antingen som en vetenskaplig uppsats eller som en artikel för publicering i vetenskaplig tidskrift. Om artikelform väljes författar studenterna en kompletterande kappa som gör att samtliga lärandemål täcks in.

Entry requirements
At least 180 passed credits of which minst 60 hp within utbildningsvetenskapligt relevant område including självständigt arbete på minst 15 hp on a basic level. It also requires a minimum of 90 hp on advanced level in scientifically relevant areas for educational science including independent project of at least 15 credits and metodkurser på 30 hp
