Overview
The course provides an orientation in anatomical and physiological concepts, with examples from biomedical engineering used in healthcare to provide a familiarity with medical terminology when reading medical literature and/or communicating with healthcare personnel. The course covers the structure of the human body and the function of vital organs as well as the cell structure and kinetics. The course also introduces ethical concepts in medical research and give an introduction in tumour diseases, tumour induction, cancer incidence and oncological treatment strategies. Laboratory work is done to highlight biomedical engineering applications and physiological principles. The course also includes a where students work in a group to solve a medical problem with a technical approach. The course includes three modules: 1. Theory, 5 ECTS 2. Project work, 1 ECTS 3. Laboratory work, 1,5 ECTS

Entry requirements
Basic measurement technology 7.5 credits or basic electronics 7.5 credits or equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies and Swedish for basic eligibility for university studies if the education is given in Swedish.
