Kursen behandlar enzymatiska omvandlingar av betydelse för kolesterolbalansen, vitamin D:s funktioner, bildningen av steroidhormoner samt bioaktivering och nedbrytning av läkemedel. Speciell tonvikt lägges vid olika typer av molekylära mekanismer som påverkar dessa processer. Kursen tar också upp sjukdomar som beror på störningar i enzymatiska funktioner. **Distanskursens upplägg:** Kursen är internetbaserad. Undervisningen består av webbföreläsningar, skriftliga inlämningsuppgifter och obligatoriska lärarledda seminarier live via Zoom som inkluderar muntliga presentationer samt diskussion mellan lärare och studenter. Kursen avslutas med hemtentamen. För att delta i undervisningen krävs dator med internetuppkoppling.

150 credits of which 120 credits in biomedicine, pharmaceutical science, chemistry, natural science and/or engineering. Previous studies should include biochemistry or cell biology. Proficiency in Swedish and English equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle (Bachelor's level) studies.
