<p>Kursen introducerar och diskuterar multimodal teoribildning och dess rötter i semiotik och sociosemiotik och dess relation till multiliteracies. Detta sätts i relation till undervisningen i svenska som andraspråk. Forskningsläge gällande dessa områden introduceras och analyseras. Populärkultur och culture studies utgör de traditioner och forskningsfält som används för analys och reflektion över multimodala inslag i svenska som andraspråksundervisningen. Ett kritiskt förhållningssätt etableras genom de didaktiska grundfrågorna: Vad, hur, när och varför multimodala inslag och populärkultur används i undervisningen i svenska som andraspråk.</p>
