Overview
This course deals with the development of different technologies and their impact on music from the 1800s to the 2000s. The course focuses on various technologies’ relationship with human beings, as well as in society at large, from media-historical and cultural-theoretical perspectives. The course enhances students' understanding of how technologies are used as a tool of musical expression and communication, the impact of technologies on this process as well as how music and music listening have changed in ontological, aesthetic and social terms alongside technological change.

A first-cycle qualification comprising at least 180 credits of which at least 90 credits correspond to specialised study in either the humanities or social sciences. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English level 2" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.
