Overview
The history of Western classical music from Classicism to Modernism is discussed, along with presentations of and practical exercises in ear training, rhythm, harmony, harmonic progression, and instrumentation in Western tonal music. The practice, aesthetics, and function of music in society are discussed as well as various approaches to music conventions, and the importance of ear training and theory study to musical development. Instruction is in the form of group tutorials and seminars.
