Om man jämför olika översättningar av Nya testamentet ser man genast ett antal olikheter mellan dem. Det står klart att textöversättare också är texttolkare. För att begripa nyanser och tolkningsmöjligheter i texterna behöver man kunna studera dem på originalspråket. För att tolka Nya testamentet och arbeta med nytestamentlig teologi behöver man alltså kunna hantera de snart två tusen år gamla grekiska texterna. Språkkunskaper gör det lättare att ta till sig texternas innehåll och förstå den värld och de tänkesätt som ligger bakom dem. Denna grundkurs i nytestamentlig grekiska leder fram till läsning och tolkning av några enklare grekiska texter ur Nya testamentet.
